An advent message from GB’s International President
Published on December 14, 2020

To my GB family all around the world,
Season’s Greetings
Where has the time gone, we are already in Advent 2020!
This year has been a very unusual one and I know that many of the Girls’ Brigade activities everyone had planned have had to be cancelled, postponed, or done in a socially distanced way where possible. Thank you! Even though things have been very different I know that all our volunteers/Officers have been doing what they can to stay in touch with the young people and families we work with.
As we concentrate on the advent period and prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, let’s make sure we remember the true meaning of Christmas. Our advent preparations may be different to usual this year if we are unable to attend church and Christmas preparations and parties might be restricted so let’s use this as an opportunity to slow down and really focus on the reason we celebrate Christmas.
Isaiah 9:2-7, gives us the Promise of Hope, “…His names will be: Amazing Counselor, Strong God, Eternal Father, Prince of Wholeness. His ruling authority will grow, and there’ll be no limits to the wholeness he brings.” (MSG)
This year has given us lots of challenges, but God is always there to help us through and give us hope. He can help us in any situation, gives us hope to overcome any challenges that might come our way and gives us hope that we will have the power to use the God given gifts that we have been given.
In Jesus’ name, we have Hope for eternity. Romans 15:13 “May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (NIV)
So even after this very unusual year, let’s not forget the real reason we celebrate Christmas… JESUS.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
PEACE, LOVE AND JOY
