BE A GB ADVOCATE AT NGO CSW65

Published on February 17, 2021

This is an exciting opportunity to be register as a GB Advocate and participate in the virtual NGO CSW65 parallel event programme from Monday 15 – 26 March 2021.

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the largest global gathering of gender justice activists in the world with two virtual programmes operating simultaneously. This year, NGO CSW is hosting over 650 events online – these workshops and sessions are hosted by NGOs and organisations across the world – including GB International. The sessions are running at all times of the day and night so there will be slots to suit everyone. You don’t need to attend every session – just pick and choose.

REGISTRATION IS IMPORTANT

In order to attend any of these FREE events (including GB’s session), you must register FREE on the NGO CSW platform. Registering with GB first enables us to see who is attending and support you. We’ll forward you the link.

ATTENDING GB’S SESSION

Please note: NGO CSW have told us that you must register even if you’re only planning to attend the GBI’s session on Thursday 18 March at 1300-1430 GMT. Our session is called ‘She Speaks: Young Women on Faith, Social Justice and Transformational Acts’ and will be led by our Delegation of Hope 18-30s team. The team are exploring four key issues facing girls and young women including girls’ access to education, gender-based violence, mental health and gender specific persecution. These are issues which they are passionate about and they’re also doing it in creative ways including drama, videos and spoken word pieces. There will be a panel discussion on why it is important to engage with faith based actors on the issue of gender justice at the end with Chine McDonald from Christian Aid, Christine MacMillan from WEA and hopefully Bishop Sarah Mullaly from the Anglican Communion. Please do support the team with your prayers and attendance.  Registering will be the only way to access this session as there will be no independent zoom link available.

FREE BRIEFING SESSION

We realise that many people do not know what CSW is, how it works and why it is important for GB to be participating in it! That’s why GB International is hosting a short briefing on Saturday 27 February at 1300-1430 GMT. This will be led by Dr Claire Rush, IVP Europe and Team Leader of the Delegation of Hope. She will share some more info about CSW and how you can get the most out of the experience. There will be a Q&A time as well. A recording may be available depending on technology!

Please register here.
