In 2025, the Girls’ Brigade International launched our Trailblazer awards, designed to honour the tireless dedication and selfless service of the thousands of members and volunteers around the world that make Girls’ Brigade happen.
The “Rising Star” category recognised a current GB member (under 18) who embodied the spirit of Girls’ Brigade – to seek, serve and follow Christ. The girls and young women below were all nominated for their dedication to GB and the Christ-like attitude they demonstrate towards their peers.
Meet our worthy winners!
International Winner: Katie Burrows (Northern Ireland – Europe Fellowship)
Katie has been a member of Girls’ Brigade for 12 years and was nominated for the way she treats others, showing them kindness, compassion and empathy. She has been a catalyst for growth within her age group, bringing along many of her classmates ensuring a thriving community. Despite her age, she also plays a vital leadership role within her company, organising a range of activities from craft to dance to scripture for the younger age groups.
Country Winner: Camia Gumbs (Anguilla – Caribbean and Americas Fellowship)
Camia was nominated for her dedication and commitment to Girls’ Brigade where she serves with reliability, sincerity and confidence. Beyond Girls’ Brigade, her service extends to her wider church family, where she is part of both the worship and dance teams, and her community, regularly participating in outreach efforts such as visiting the local elderly community.
Country Winner: Hung Yee Sum (Hong Kong – Asia Fellowship)
Despite only being in Girls’ Brigade a few years, Yee Sum has found a great sense of belonging within the organisation. Through Girls’ Brigade her passion for pursing God and moving beyond superficial knowledge has been sparked, leading her to want to spread the spirit of “Seek, Serve and Follow” not only to other GB members through achieving her young leader badges, but also to those who haven’t heard about Christ.
Country Winner: Ketzia Lachman (Australia – Pacific Fellowship)
Having arrived from a limited English-speaking country where her parents were missionaries, the way Ketzia actively follows God is demonstrated in the way she interacts with others, showing them encouragement, empathy and love. She ensures that no one is excluded and offers a helping hand to those who need it. Alongside her fellow Seniors, she has recently enjoyed hosting a number of events such as a “GB Talent” night, yet is also willing to do some of the less glamourous jobs such the washing up!
Country Winner: Kiva Johnson (Bahamas – Caribbean & Americas Fellowship)
Kiva is an active participant in company and at national Girls’ Brigade events, in addition to representing Girls’ Brigade amongst other uniformed youth organisations. Her dedication to her own spiritual growth is demonstrated by her attendance at many skills-based workshops and conferences such as the Women’s Ministry Retreat, where she has been the youngest participant.
Country Winner: Kwaghdoo Patience Noah (Nigeria – Africa Fellowship)
Kwaghdoo was nominated for her dedication to all Girls’ Brigade activities and the attitude in which she does them showing reliability and respect for all involved. She serves in a capacity as a youth leader where she shows creativity, innovation and initiative.
Country Winner: Maame Fosua Amanimaa Agyapong (Ghana – Africa Fellowship)
Maame has been a member of Girls’ Brigade for as long as she was old enough and has represented Ghana at the 2025 Africa Conference. She can be depended upon to do all activities delegated to her whether that be leading her advocacy group or participating in band.
Country Winner: Ruth Chisha Mulenga (Zambia – Africa Fellowship)
During her membership of Girls’ Brigade Ruth had shown great dedication and growth, participating in activities such as GB week and Sunday School Awareness. She readily accepts any challenge and is an inspiration to other members of her group.
