As we come into April we are heading for Easter, the most notable time of the year, when Christ died for us. I reflect over the many Easters that I have had in my life. The most powerful one was at an Easter youth camp, and it was there that I became aware of what Christ went through for me. Things that I had taken for granted as a child and accepted, opened my eyes to the wonderful teachings of my Sunday School teachers and Girls’ Life Brigade leaders.
I came from a Christian home and being the eldest I had to set an example to my siblings. So, every Sunday afternoon I would attend Sunday School and would go to Church with Mum on a Sunday, but this was just the beginning of my Christian life. Girls’ Brigade had a big part to play and as I look back, I can see where Christ has been working in me.
As we come to another Easter, a time of sadness and rejoicing, let us remind our girls what that means. I would like to share something with you. One of little Cadets (aged 5 at the time) wanted to help me pray one GB evening as we were finishing. I prayed first and then I asked her to pray. She said an awesome prayer asking Jesus to look after different members of the family, then GB members, and she finished by saying this, “Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for me.” The girls were all amazed at what she had said. Some months later, at our Mother and Daughter Weekend, I asked her what did she want to do when she grew up. Her answer was and still is a Pastor/Leader, the reason being is that they help people and tell you about how Jesus died for us.
It would be lovely to hear from others in Brigade, around the world, about what we are doing in the lives of our girls. We may not see the results, but others will. We are sometimes their first introduction to Christ.
God bless you all during this most important time in the Christian calendar and always remember that He died for us, and He is Risen.
