EBENEZER! God has taken us thus far. We thank God for 2024, the ups and downs – He was with us all the way. As we usher in the new year, with new hope and new resolutions, let us reflect and be thankful for years past. We began in 2022 with Rise in Strength; in 2023 we were then asked to Stand in the Gap “for such a time as this.” We were exactly where God wanted us to be and were advocates, the voice of the voiceless, bringing the message of hope to the hopeless. In 2024, it was the Great Commission, GB Making Disciples.
If God is for us, who can be against us? As we go into 2025 with renewed strength, let us rely on HIM to give us strength to reach our fullest potential. Our theme for 2025: “Soar like an Eagle”
Theme Verse: Isaiah 40:31 (NIV) “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Prayer
Heavenly Father, as we usher in the new year and set the tone for 2025, we ask for Your guidance and wisdom. Help us to open our hearts and minds to Your Word. May we be inspired to soar like eagles, embracing the strength and courage that comes from placing our hope in You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
As we embark on this new year, let’s take a moment to reflect on the powerful imagery of eagles in the Bible. Eagles are known for their strength, majesty and ability to soar high above the storms. Just as the eagle rises above the challenges below, God calls us to rise above our circumstances and embrace the heights He has planned for us.
Reflection
1. Strength renewed: The promise in Isaiah reminds us that when we place our hope in the Lord, He renews our strength. As young women of faith, we may face various challenges – academic pressures, personal struggles or societal expectations. Yet, God invites us to come to Him with our burdens. This year, let us commit to seeking Him first in prayer and through His Word, allowing Him to fill us with renewed energy and purpose.
- Soaring above: Eagles are not only strong, they are also skilled at soaring. They use the wind currents to lift them higher without expending unnecessary energy. Similarly, when we rely on God’s guidance and the Holy Spirit, we can navigate life’s challenges with grace and ease. Ask yourself: What are the winds of life that might be holding you back? How can you lean into God’s strength to rise above them this year?
- Vision and focus: Eagles have incredible vision, allowing them to see opportunities and threats from great distances. As we move forward, let’s pray for clarity of vision in our lives. What goals has God placed on your heart? What dreams do you have for this year? Take time to write them down, pray over them, and seek God’s direction.
- Community and support: Eagles often nurture their young and teach them to soar. This year, let’s remember the importance of community. We are called to support one another, to lift each other up, and to encourage one another in faith. Let’s commit to being a source of strength for our sisters in Christ, reminding each other of our worth and potential.
Practical Application
Daily Devotion: Set aside time each day to read Scripture and pray. Start with Isaiah 40:31 and let it resonate in your heart.
Goal Setting: Identify three specific goals for your spiritual, personal, and academic life this year. Share these with a trusted friend or mentor who can hold you accountable.
Community Engagement
As GB, we pride ourselves in regular meetings within our groups to share testimonies, pray for each other, encourage one another in our faith journeys and have fun!
Prayer
Dear Lord, thank You for the promise that we can soar like eagles when we place our hope in You. Help us to embrace this new year with faith, strength, and a vision that aligns with Your purpose. May we uplift one another and seek to glorify You in all that we do. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
As we step into this year, remember that you are an eagle, created to soar high and achieve great things. Embrace your identity as a daughter of the King, and let your faith lift you to new heights. Together, let’s soar!
